Eco School
The school is a member of the Healthy Schools and Green Schools schemes. This provides pupils with opportunities to realise the importance of keeping healthy and fit as well as issues relating to conservation, recycling and saving energy.
By committing to the Green School project, we as a school have agreed to:
- Reduce waste
- Save energy and use natural resources
- Reduce pollution
- Care for the local environment
- Travel sustainably
The Eco-school Committee, which includes Year 3-6 pupils, will meet regularly to discuss the above issues. The committee has raised awareness amongst all pupils about environmental issues, such as setting up a litter squad, installing recycling boxes in every class, gardening and saving energy.
The school has gained Silver School status. Whole school procedures have been established for promoting awareness of green issues.
The school works to promote understanding of Fair Trade by organising stalls and raising money through fairs and including fair trade principles in the Curriculum.
